Our Student Services programme offers a safe place for our service users to spend time at The Bridge and work alongside our tutors to develop their life skills and provide them with a sense of belonging.
When new students arrive, we set their desired outcomes depending on their goals. Our primary outcomes are based on independent living skills, health and well-being, including mental health, employment, friends and community.
After recently moving to Sudbury, I wanted to immerse myself in the community, meet new people and give back to my new neighbours. The Bridge is such an excellent way of doing that as the charity is so embedded within the community. The volunteering role is so rewarding, I laugh every day and really enjoy my time with the students.

Schedule
We create flexible programmes for our students to suit their needs and preferences. Students can come in daily, once or twice a week or whenever suits them.
We will work with the students and their families to design their programme according to their goals and milestones. Our students become equipped with life skills, such as communication, cooking and preparing for future employment.
Day-to-day Activities
Our Student Services programme offers fun activities like arts and crafts, baking, cooking, dancing and socialising. We partner with West Suffolk College to offer several classes for our students to become accredited in a course that benefits their future employment. We also provide an opportunity to work in our shop, CREATE, or helping produce our meal delivery service, heading out on rounds to deliver the meals or working at our new venue Sudbury Arts Centre.
This service benefits the students because they gain a great sense of community and strengthen friendships. Watching their confidence and happiness grow is incredibly rewarding, as some students may have previously experienced feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Student Services Support
Every student has a key worker who supports them at The Bridge. After meeting our entire team, the students get to choose their key worker, someone they feel safe with and who can offer sufficient support. We also have many helpful resources and connections that we can tap into according to the student’s needs.
We would be delighted to hear from you to learn how we can support your young person/adult at The Bridge. Please contact a member of our team today.
The Bridge offers a dynamic, stimulating environment for students, staff and volunteers. We are continually presented with new and exciting challenges, and the notion of no two days being the same really does ring true.
