A community music project co-created by the Bridge, and national producer Orchestras Live working with Sinfonia Viva, culminated this week in a live concert in the setting of our venue, Sudbury Arts Centre. Following a successful grant funding bid led by Hannah Seymour, Head of Development at the Bridge, the harmonious project, supporting the health and wellbeing of vulnerable people in the Sudbury locality, was able to come to fruition.
Sudbury Sounds has enabled learning disabled adults and members of our Decafe group for people living with dementia, alongside residents of three care settings in Sudbury, to experience, create and perform live music alongside professional musicians. The concert, on Monday 29th July, featured Jessie Grimes with Sinfonia Viva performing alongside the participants in front of a packed out audience of friends, families and the local community.
This project has been supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and we extend thanks on behalf of all involved to Babergh District Councillors Tim Regester, Alison Owen and Laura Smith for supporting the project.
It was a brilliant afternoon thanks. My mum was one of the care home residents attending & she was dancing all afternoon! – Angela L
How amazing to bring so many people in the community who are so often overlooked, together, to bring joy to the rest of us. Medicine for the soul. – Nick B
