The Bridge Project, a Sudbury based charity set up over 25 years ago to assist disadvantaged adults within the local community, has set its sights on relocating as part of an exciting expansion plan for 2021.
The charity has decided to sell its existing site in Gainsborough Street, Sudbury and is currently in the last stages of finalising plans for a new home for The Bridge Project. Whilst the current building is known as The Bridge Project and is full of character, the reality of operating a charity in an older style building can be both expensive to maintain and impractical in terms of layout and accessibility.
The new premises will remain in Sudbury and will allow The Bridge Project to create a home which is fit for purpose whilst continuing to be a hub of creativity and inclusivity – open to all.
The charity provides support to those living with dementia, learning disabilities and those experiencing mental health issues including a series of social activities, a hot meal delivery service 365 days of the year and creative workshops for all ages. As part of the move, the charity will not only be continuing to offer all these existing services but is also planning to expand its offering of services as part of the relocation and expansion plans. Lisa Townrow, Finance Manager for The Bridge Project says:
“The Bridge Project is not about bricks and mortar, but about our staff, volunteers and most importantly the people we support. For the first time in our history we have the vision and the funding to take ourselves forward into a very bright and exciting future.”
Paul Mackman, Chair of Trustees said:
“Despite the current pandemic, The Bridge Project is in the strongest position it has been since it started in 1995 and we have exciting plans for the coming year to continue to grow our services and community support. We look forward to continuing with our ethos of ‘to work together and bring people together’ within Sudbury and the local area for many more years to come.”
Further details on their new venue and expansion plans for their ranges of services will be coming soon!
